We love to hear your stories – Let Marisha tell you all about her trip to Melbourne.
My trip started with lots of planning with my family and staff. I was soon boarding a plane with two of my carers to arrive at Flinders Street in the heart of Melbourne city.
My location was in the heart of the city where I had access to free trams. I utilised these to go to places such as the Sea Life Aquarium, Flinders Lane Restaurants, and getting around the city. I also found using Uber was handy to get to locations outside the city tram zone i.e: Docklands, St Kilda, Crown Casino, DFO and Artvo.
This trip enabled me to reconnect and strengthen bonds with family members. I enjoyed time with my brother and sister in law dining, and a day at Victoria Markets. A new experience for me was trying the famous Jam Donuts sold at the market. I enjoyed reconnecting with Aunty Barb and cousin Gina for dinner at the Duke where we ended up having laughs, drinks and some singing in the street. It was extra special because I had not seen them since 2018!
It was easy to go online too as wifi is free in Melbourne city so we were able to check for different events. I immersed myself in the shopping culture and did not run out of things to do. There are plenty of cafes and shops within walking distance. I travelled during a huge cricket tournament which the “handsome” Uber drivers explained was why the city was buzzing with so many fans. Lots of uniquely dressed people which I thoroughly enjoyed observing.
I felt very recharged having an experience in another city. This was a much needed break from my everyday life and appointments. Whilst I was away I was still able to communicate with my family who were busy renovating my villa. Through video call I was able to make an informed choice on the colour scheme and stay updated with the progress of the renovations. I look forward to planning my next holiday.
